The Atrium is the beehive of activity on the Diamond Princess and is the location of the information desk and the shore excursion desk. It is also the setting for two of the bars on the ship – Crooner’s and the Lobby Bar. Shop in the stores of the onboard shopping mall for perfumes at Essence, jewellery at Facets and for clothing in such stores as Calypso Corner and Meridian’s.

Spend some quiet time in the Library where you will find a selection of many genres of books to meet your reading needs if you forgot to bring along a book. You can also pick one up at one of the stores. The chairs here were just meant for curling up in as you take in the views of the sea or read.

You don’t have to take the stairs from one deck to another with the large number of elevators on this ship, although it is a form of fitness if you don’t get enough in the gym. Since most of the staterooms are located beneath the public rooms of the ship, you won’t be disturbed by the noise of the evening’s entertainment and will get a good night’s sleep.

The Internet Cafe on the Diamond Princess is one of the largest afloat. Here you pay by the minute to use one of the 12 computers, but you can save money by purchasing a package deal. There is a bar in this venue and there are also computers for your use in the Library.

Getting married on a cruise has never been easier with the Wedding Chapel on this ship. You can have the reception onboard as well by booking one of the private rooms and have it catered by the chefs and wait staff.

Some of the daytime activities in which you can participate on the Diamond Princess include taking a class in pottery. You pay only for the dish you wish to create and have it fired in the kiln so that it is ready to take home when the cruise is over.

There is a special pool just for children and four others for adults on this ship. The Children’s program is divided into four levels. There is a play room fully stocked with toys for toddlers. Princess Pelicans is for children aged 3 to7, Princess Privateers is for those aged 8 to 12 and Off-Limits is the program for teenagers on the ship. All are supervised by trained staff who plan age appropriate activities for those in their care.
