“Amenities at your fingertips at every turn” is an apt description of the facilities available on the Independence of the Seas. There are three pools, one of which is in the Solarium for the exclusive use of adults and the Kiddie Pool is just for the little ones. There are several whirlpools as well as cantilevered pools that extend 12 feet out from the ship for an experience that just isn’t possible on land. Surfing is also a possibility with the FlowRider and you don’t need to bring your surfing gear with you because it is available free of charge.

The duty-free shops lining the Royal Promenade are open 24 hours a day for your convenience. Here you can buy the latest fashions in clothing, exotic perfumes, fine jewellery or books and souvenirs. There is a library on the ship with a fine selection of books to choose from as well.

The Independence of the Seas is wired for Internet so you can surf the net from the privacy of your stateroom or check your email at the Internet Cafe. There is a per minute charge for this service but there are packages available that will save you money.

The rock climbing wall and the ice rink at sea are two unique facilities aboard this ship that provide a lot of entertainment and excitement for passengers. Skates are readily available for those who want to enjoy skating during the times set for a free skate during the day.

Children’s programs are available for children as young as 6 months of age giving parents a chance to pursue more adult-oriented activities. There are babysitting services available also for an hourly fee but the children must be at least one year old.

Enrichment classes on the Independence of the Seas take the form of lectures at sea, wine tasting, jewellery seminars, lessons in dance, rock climbing and card playing and cooking demonstrations. Challenger’s Arcade is a very popular place for teenagers to hang out, but there are also video games here for adults.

The Skylight Chapel can seat 40 guests and weddings can take place on board the ship.

The spa features a Beauty Salon where both men and women can have their hair done or have a manicure or pedicure. And, there is no need to worry about getting sick because there is a fully staffed medical center on the ship.
