Trust me Bigger is not Better, Royal Caribbean are too full of themselves. There is practically no way you can constructively complain. We went on an expensive 11 day trip around the Canary Isles. The ship is big, but the public areas are not. We have been on other Royal Caribbean Ships and enjoyed ourselves mainly due to the staff. This time the ship went from Southampton, which it seems means that the average age goes up drastically as there is no flying, ok not such a problem except elderly and infirm are no good by their very nature at queuing or being patient and believe me on this ship you had to be. We went through the Bay of Biscay in a force 9, most very sick and ill the dining room half empty, ok perhaps it was rocky, but we had been told that the stablisers would overcome this problem, after three very difficult days got to Maderia, very nice but when we then sailed to tenerife the rocking of the ship made people ill again, sick bags everywhere and the customer relations giving out tablets like sweets (surely this cannot be right).

Anyway after getting to Lazarote after Gran Canaria and it was still tossing us up and down, we happened to speak to some staff who told us that the stabilizers were not on as it took fuel and the captain was on a bonus to save fuel, many staff told us the same thing. I and several others made a complaint to glib patronising uninterested customer service people and kept complaining when at 4 that morning suddenly all was well and the trip back smooth and perfect yet weather much the same! Amazing. Also this ship does not have enough room in public areas, the Windjammer was packed to the gunnels with staff pushing you to leave your table (at one time we had to take our glasses of wine outside) as people were queuing, same in bars, almost impossible to get a seat in the bars of an evening. They have increased the size of the ship but not the public areas, may be great if you are in the caribbean in hot weather and can stay out side eating and drinking but not in Med weather in the autumn/Winter.

Biggest complaint is that nobody is interested and I have been to the website and there is no contact details where you can register a complaint, do not do the Independence of the seas. Staff of very low morale no wonder with a captain like that.

positives of cruise Positives of Cruise
Nice state rooms and lovely staff in Champagne bar.

negative of cruise Negatives of Cruise
Lots mainly no stabilisers used and overcrowding in public areas

I would reccomend this cruise to others.

I think this cruise is suitable for Couples.
