Mariner of the Seas image
Before we left to come home on the cruise, we stayed in the Hampden Inn, Miami and travelled to the port in the morning. It's much more affordable than staying in Fort Lauderdale for a night and it gave us a chance to take in many of the beautiful sites in Florida.

Embarkation was a smooth process with no problems. Our baggage was delivered, with great care, to our room within an hour of boarding. Leaving us free to unpack and freshen up for our first meal on the Mariner.

The cabin was roomier than it looked on the brochure but the balcony was out of commission on some mornings due to the weather. But on the mornings it was available, breakfast was lovely there with a book from the library. Storage space for our luggage and toiletries was ample (could easily accommodate three people's belongings).

The ship has a big theatre, a promenade, pools, internet access, hot tubs, library and a whole lot more. The average temperature was between 60 and 70 degrees and very windy on some days but the sunnier days more than made up for it. The pools could be larger as they felt crowded at times but it was great to learn about Art History in some of the lectures and the hot tubs help you relax, like you need it on a transatlantic cruise.

We ate later on most evenings as we would had late lunches and took in a show before dining at 8:45. We used the buffet to eat some entrées to tide us over. Giovanni's was nice but it cost extra on top of the price of the cruise. Also, we recommend buying a drinks package so you can enjoy a glass of wine with your meal. Our waiter helped us remember what we had left of our package.

The lectures were interesting and the other games and trivia contests left us short for nothing to do. The crew are really fun and seem to enjoy what they do.

Debarkation was as seamless as when we first got on the ship and we were even allowed to take our luggage off with us to leave the ship quickly.

We had a great time on the Mariner, a truly affordable luxury.

positives of cruise Positives of Cruise
The abundance of activities left us with little free time to relax but the spa and hot tub took care of this. We found the whole experience to be a relaxed, quick pace. The lectures were enlightening and the ports we called at were beautiful.

negative of cruise Negatives of Cruise
The weather on some days but that is out or RC's control.

I would reccomend this cruise to others.

I think this cruise is suitable for Seniors.
